2025/26 Uganda Cup | SF | First Leg

  • Kitara FC Vs Vipers SC

Wasswa Bbosa has kept it simple ahead of Kitara’s big test against Vipers respect the opponent, trust the work, and use home advantage.

Kitara host Vipers at Royal Park Butema on Sunday in the first leg of the Plascon co-sponsored Uganda Cup semi final, a tie that could shape both teams’ seasons.

While Vipers chase another league and cup double, Kitara see the competition as their clearest path to silverware.

Bbosa knows what they are up against but believes his side is ready.

“They are one of the best sides in the division,” he said. “But we have prepared well and I’m sure we can get a good result.”

Kitara come into the match five points behind Vipers in the league and with limited room to catch up.

The cup, therefore, carries added weight. They will also take confidence from being the only side to have recorded a ‘win’ over Vipers this season, even if it came off the pitch.

Their only meeting on the field ended goalless at Kitende in a tense, physical contest, an indication of how tight this semi final could be.

The history between the two sides adds belief for the hosts. In 2024, Kitara knocked Vipers out on penalties on their way to lifting their first Uganda Cup.

But Vipers responded last season, beating Kitara home and away at this stage en route to a domestic double.

Kitara could welcome back Murushid Jjuuko and Isa Lumu, who were rested against SC Villa. Vipers, meanwhile, must decide whether to start Usama Arafat or stick with Yunus Sentamu, who has led the line in recent games.

With the second leg just two weeks away, Sunday’s game is about taking an early advantage.
