Defending Champion Jinja SS had an easy route to the final, dominating Delhi Public School to win by 10 wickets. They are now poised to defend their Boys Schools Cricket Week title in front of a passionate home crowd. Victory in the final would mark their second consecutive championship and fifth overall.
In the second semi-final, Busoga College Mwiri got revenge against Nyakasura School who defeated them at the same stage last year. The record winners denied Nyakasura a third consecutive final in a thrilling game.
Despite losing their talisman Gerald Olipa early, Mwiri’s 110/5 total in their 20 overs was enough to overcome Nyakasura’s chase, which faltered due to consistent wicket losses.
In the run chase, Nyakasura couldn’t mount a challenge as they lost wickets in clusters eventually running out of resources with 33 runs still required for the win. Busoga College Mwiri is chasing a 20th title, but they will need to go through a wall to defeat hosts Jinja SS.
The 2024 final is a repeat of this season’s Eastern Region final which was comfortably won by The Mighty School – Jinja SS.
In the plate tournament, King’s College Budo has been the form team and they defeated Masaka SS by 1 run in the semifinal to set up a clash with Shree Sahajand on Saturday morning.
The main event final will conclude the seven-day tournament in Jinja and is scheduled to start in the afternoon.
