Jinja United Women confirmed their place in the top flight on Saturday after edging Highway Ladies 2-1 away in Mbale. The hard-fought victory lifted the Jinja side to 29 points in the Victoria Group, a tally second placed UCU Lady Cardinals can no longer surpass despite having a game in hand.

It was a moment of celebration for the Eastern Uganda side, whose consistent performances throughout the season have finally earned them a place among the country’s elite teams.
URA Ladies Football Club also booked their historic promotion after a narrow 1-0 victory over UPDF Women at Kawempe Muslim Grounds. Cynthia Kirenga scored the decisive goal to send the Tax Collectors into the top division for the first time.

The win moved URA Ladies to 38 points at the top of the Elizabeth Group, five ahead of Boni Consili with one match left to play, making their promotion mathematically certain.
URA Ladies have enjoyed a remarkable campaign, winning 12 of their 14 matches and drawing the other two. They remain unbeaten and are now on course to complete the season without losing a game.
Before turning their attention to life in the top flight, URA Ladies will face Tooro Queens in their final league match before taking on Jinja United Women in the FUFA Women Elite League final to determine the overall champions.
The two promoted sides replace Asubo Ladies and Olila High School, who were relegated from the Super League.
