The Bunyoro-Kitara qualifiers came to a successful conclusion over the weekend as 23 teams confirmed their participation in the inaugural USSSA National Kabaddi Championship.
Ahead of the 2026 USSSA Ball Games II, the Uganda Kabaddi Federation continues to build momentum for the sport after six teams secured qualification during the Bunyoro-Kitara qualifiers, joining the 17 teams that had already qualified from other parts of the country.
The qualifiers, held at Masindi Secondary School, saw the hosts qualify both their boys’ and girls’ teams. Bunyoro-Kitara Christian High School and Sir Tito Winyi Secondary School also secured slots in both categories.
With the addition of the six teams from Bunyoro-Kitara, the number of participating teams has risen to 13 in the boys’ category and 10 in the girls’ category.
The inaugural USSSA National Kabaddi Championship will be held at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu from July 8 to 19, 2026.
The 23 participating teams will come from the Bunyoro-Kitara Zone, Wakiso and Kampala combined zones, Luweero Zone, Lango Zone and Acholi Zone.
