The national U19 boys cricket team, the Baby Cricket Cranes bagged their second win of the tour of India today.
Following their comfortable win over Paramveer in their opening game yesterday, they produced another noteworthy display.
The side needed just 11 Overs to track down SAI Cricket Academy‘s score of 90 as they beat their opponents by eight wickets.
Joseph Baguma was the go-to guy once again as Uganda bowled out SAI with 19 Overs left.
With an economy of 3 from 9 Overs, Baguma dispatched six wickets including openers Aditya Manishkumar Saidva and Tirthraj Gadhavi.
Despite not having to bat like he did yesterday, the 17-year-old claimed the Man of the Match award.
Ali Balidawa was a mean one too with the ball as he claimed three wickets.
With SAI going all out with only 90 runs, it was an easy chase for the batters who needed only 11 Overs to get to the finish line.
Openers Ronald Omara and Gerald Olipa took the limelight in that vein. Omara totaled 23 runs, but it was his opening partner who had the most – an unbeaten 50.
Coaches hungry for more solid performances
Speaking after the game, the team’s assistant coach Robinson Turinawe insisted the boys outdid themselves.
“Today’s game was a better version of yesterday’s, I think it was much better than what we expected from the boys, but we are asking them to put in more.”
Head coach Emmanuel Isaneez made a few changes to the team that played against Paramveer yesterday.
Jonathan Nyiiro, Christopher Kidega, Anas Baig, and Yunus Sowobi made way for Peter Ocen, Tandia Abdul Aziz, Anas Mirza, and Musa Majid Ramathan.
The purpose of this tour is to fine-tune the Baby Cricket Cranes ahead of the ICC U19 World Cup Regional Qualifiers set to happen in Tanzania come July.
