Day one for Kampala Region Girls football qualifiers to the 2026 USSSA Girls Football, scheduled for April 29-May 9 at Seroma Christian School, showcased remarkable performances with 41 goals coming out of 12 groups.
The Qualifiers, having 9 teams grouped into two groups, took to the day one at Hamz Stadium in Nakivuba and Kibuli SS ground.
At both Groups, Region Defending Champion Kawempe Muslim SS and close Challenger Uganda Martyrs High School Rubaga continued to rumble the competition.
In Group A, Kawempe Muslim SS, on a perfect note, totalled 12 goals, recording 29 percent of the goals scored at the group Stage. In the first game, Kawempe Muslim SS defeated Highland SS 3-0.
Free flair player Docus Kisakye, Fahima Babirye, and Hope Belinda Nabawanuka scored the goals to set the pace, which extended to beat Kololo SS 7-0.
Agnes Nabukenya stood out with a hat trick. Nabawanuka raised again with her second goal of the qualifiers, while Prossy Namataka, Zoena Kampi, and Daniella Kisakye completed the scoreline.
Later in the evening, Kawempe Muslim SS wrapped up the group Stage with Nabukenya scoring a second-half brace that handed the 100% record in the group stage after beating Rubaga Girls 2-0.
As Kawempe leads group A, Highland SS joined them in the Semifinals as the group A runners-up. They won two games, with a 1-0 over Rubaga Girls and a 3-0 over Kololo SS.
In group B, at Kibuli SS grounds Uganda Martyrs High School Rubaga contributed the most goals, 17, standing at 41% of the goals scored, though they were grouped with four teams to play a game more than Kawempe Muslim SS in group A.
The Martyrs started not well, as they were held goalless twice by Kakungulu Memorial School and Gadhafi Integrated Academy, but sparked on their third attempt, beating Bishop Cyprian Kihangire 11-0.
Catherine Nabaweesi quickly smashed a double hat trick plus a goal, Monica Nakitende added a hat trick, and Josephine Nakivumbi scored the other goal.
The Martyrs led the group with 8 points out of a possible 12, while Gadhafi Integrated Academy managed to finish second to become the fourth team in the semifinals.
With all semifinalists reaching the Girls Football National Championship, the competition shall commence in April, with the semifinal and final at Hamz Stadium, in order to find out the regional champion.
