Kampala Region league side Mutungo FC overcame a slump in form that lasted for 8 straight matches, deepened by a 4-1 loss on Thursday, April 30, but bounced back with a 1-0 win over leaders Blacks Power at Jeph University Grounds in Butabika on May 3.

Goal poacher Deogracious Adule took his tally to 12 with the only goal that secured the first win since March, when they lost their captain Aaron Musiima to a hamstring injury, who returned to action in a heavy loss to Proline. Mutungo remains winless when Musiima is on the sideline for a while.

The win brought back a lifeline as they closed the game to 5 points behind Black Star .

During their struggles, they lost three times, with the poor run starting with a 1-0 loss to Black Star FC during the second round of the season, in which they only managed to win twice out of eight outings.

In the third round, they have so far played four times, starting with consecutive draws against Edgar’s FC and Born Talent, losing once to Proline FC three days before overcoming the poor run.

Now, Mutungo FC is third in the league’s top half with 35 points, behind Proline FC on 38 and Black Stars with 40 points after 29 matches of the season, with 6 remaining.

The teams are vying for a play-off spot for promotion to the FUFA Big League.

Over the weekend, out of the 18 teams in the league, 16 were in action, scoring 16 goals with no fixture that ended in a draw.

On Monday, May 4, Edgar’s shall be in action, hosting Born Talent at Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium to wind up week 29 of the league.
