Anas Baig made it look simple, guiding Tornado Bees Cricket Club to an eight wicket win over Rounders Cricket Club with a calm, unbeaten half century at Lakeside Oval, Entebbe on Sunday.
Chasing 125, Tornado Bees lost two early wickets but never lost control. Baig took charge, striking 67 off 44 balls with five fours and three sixes.
At the other end, David Musoke stayed composed on 24 not out as the pair eased the side to 128/2 in 27.4 overs.
The chase was built on a strong showing with the ball. After choosing to field, Tornado Bees kept Rounders in check, bowling them out for 124 in 42.2 overs.
Aman Preet Singh top scored with a patient 53, while Numan Mohammad added 19, but partnerships were hard to find.
Hamid Munigwa led the attack with an excellent 5/22, supported by Cosmas Kyewuta’s 3/30, as Rounders never settled.
Rounders picked up just two wickets in reply, and their total was always below par.
The win hands Rounders their first loss of the season and boosts Tornado Bees’ push in the Gold Category.
Elsewhere, GM Sugar beat Mukono Warriors by five wickets after bowling them out for 72, while SKLPS edged Wanderers by two wickets in a tight Silver Category match.
