Mengo Senior School Edge Makerere College to Reach FUFA TV Cup Semifinals

Mengo Senior School narrowly beat Makerere College 1-0 in a game played at Mengo SS playground on Friday.

The win saw Mengo SS reach the semifinals of the inaugural FUFA TV Cup on a 5-1 aggregate.

The visitors Makerere College had a chance to take the lead in the first half but their effort was denied by Mengo SS custodian Elijah Jingo. The first half ended goalless.

In the second half, Mengo Senior School took the lead through John Ssentamu in the 75th minute. Ssentamu converted a penalty after Wakasha Ssentamu was brought down in the box.

Makerere College had a chance to equalize in the last three minutes but Joel Kutosi failed to score from a one-on-one situation.

The center referee Joyce Atuhairwe ended the game as Mengo Senior School beat Makerere College 1-0 to reach the semifinals of the inaugural FUFA TV Cup.

Mengo Senior School forward John Ssentamu is currently the FUFA TV Cup top scorer with three goals in two games.

Mengo Senior School, Jinja College and Kiira College Butiki have so far qualified for the semifinals.

King’s College Buddo and St. Mary’s College Kisubi will face off on Saturday, June 17, 2023 to determine which fourth team will make it to the semifinals.
