Weatherhead will be in action on Saturday to maintain their top-of-the-table status as they face Thunders in the Men’s National Hockey League.
The side faced off with Wananchi last Saturday in a game that ended in a 3-3 draw and kept Steven Jjuuko‘s men on top of the table albeit on goal difference.
With Wananchi facing a much stronger opponent compared to Weatherhead’s, the latter will seek to take advantage of that with a victory against Thunders.
They will bank on Thomas Opio for goals. The forward scored a brace against Wananchi and he currently leads the goal-scoring charts with 13 goals.
Collin Batusa, Maxwell Mugisha, and Moses Tushabe are the other players Weatherhead will turn to for goals.
Wananchi, Rockets to face off on Sunday
Wananchi will head into their encounter against the Rockets a day after learning the Weatherhead result.
Whatever that may be, the defending champions will seek to overcome the Rockets who sit third in the league, just a point below the top two.
Wananchi knows the Rockets will be a hard nut to crack, but they will also be aware that defeat for them will hurt their title hopes.
Wananchi will hope Shafiq Byamukama, Jordan Achaye, and Jackson Musinguzi continue with their scoring form as they look to outcompete the Rockets.
KHC Originals against Badgers will open the weekend in the men’s division on Saturday, and Kampala against City Lions will close it on Sunday.
Makerere up against Titans on Sunday will be the other men’s fixture this weekend.
Titans are rooted to the bottom of the table while Makerere sits seventh in the league. All games will be played at Hockey grounds in Lugogo.
