Nagadya’s hat-trick helps Uganda Martyrs defend Beach Soccer title

Striker Catherine Nagadya guided her side Uganda Martyrs Lubaga to a second Women Beach Soccer Festival title on Saturday evening.

Her three goals saw her side come from a goal down to beat Nansana Ladies 5-3 in a thrilling final contested at Mutoola Resort Beach in Mukono.

The road to the finals saw Martyrs beat Gomba Ladies 6-3 while Nansana Ladies eased past Kampala Junior Team 6-0 to set up a repeat of last year’s final.

In the winner takes it all game, Nansana drew first blood through Justin Najjuko before Fatuma Nakasumba’s penalty leveled matters in the first period.

Uganda Martyrs then hit three unanswered goals to lead 4-1 as Nagadya scored twice and Fatuma Nakasumba added the other.

Cissy Nantongo and Stella Namisango scored to make it 4-3 in a spirited come-back for Nansana but Nagadya rose to the occasion to complete her hat trick and seal the victory for her side.

In the classification match to determine who finishes third and fourth, Gomba Ladies defeated KJT 4-1 to win the bronze medals
