The Uganda Netball federation through its Planning and Organising Committee revealed the dates for the throw off of the 2022/23 Netball Super League season.
According to sources close to Nnalubaale sports, the new league season will throw off on Friday 2nd September, 2022.
The league that will throw off at TLC Kamwokya Community Sports Center is expected to run for over six months like it was in the previous season.
Unlike the 2021/22 season, this edition is expected to have 14 clubs to take part though according to our reliable sources, only 12 clubs have confirmed their participation and returned their registration forms to the Organizing committee for the license processing.
For starters, previously the league was comprising of 10 clubs but before the 2021/22 season throw off, the Uganda Netball Federation EXCOM decided that the 2022/23 season had to be expanded to 14 teams.
To make it possible, last season no team faced relegation to maintain the ten clubs as four clubs gained promotion to the top tier from division two.
The four sportingly promoted clubs are; Busia Greater Lions (the champions of division two), Mutlex Netball Club, Africa Renewal University and Air force Netball Club.
Though, with less than two weeks to the throw off, the fixture is not yet out and when asked why his committee delayed to release the fixture, Michael Kakande the chairman of the committee had this to say.
“Yes the fixture is not yet out but we have some issues we are ironing out especially the issue of playing grounds, but soon the fixture will be out and the league will throw off. “
A total of 14 teams will participate in the 2022/23 season namely; NIC Netball Club, KCCA, Prisons, Makindye Weyonje, UPDF, Uganda X Luweero, Police, Posta, KBK, Air force, Africa Renewal University, Busia Greater Lions, Mutlex and UCU.
