The 2026 National Netball League will start on May 23, after Netball Uganda confirmed the dates and key guidelines for the new season.

The decision was reached at a meeting held at the federation headquarters in Lugogo, where preparations for the Super League, Second Division, and Men’s Super Division were finalised.

All three competitions will begin on the same day, setting up a unified start to the campaign.

Clubs have been given until May 7 to complete player registration. The federation also ruled that no player will feature in more than one league this season, a move meant to keep competition fair.

This year’s league will be played across multiple venues, a shift from the traditional single location.

Facilities such as Busia Greater Lions, Uganda Christian University, Buddo Secondary School, UPDF, KCCA, Weyonje, Police, and Kiboga have been lined up, pending inspection and approval.

Clubs have also been reminded to meet financial requirements. Super League teams will pay 1,000,000 shillings, while Second Division sides will pay 700,000, with at least half due before the season starts.

The new season follows a strong 2025 campaign by KCCA Netball Club, who won the title in dominant fashion. Shafie Nalwanga stood out and claimed the MVP award.

KCCA have already strengthened their squad with the signing of experienced shooter Margret Bagaala, adding quality and leadership as they prepare to defend their title.
