Uganda Prison Netball Club registered their first win of the season at the first time of asking in the Uganda Netball Super League over the weekend.
Prison were without two of their stars in; Jesca Achan and Wasagali Alicia who travelled to England on national duty but managed to beat stubborn Busia Greater Lions, 47-34.
Busia who were already charged with their early morning win against Africa Renewal dominated the first quarter and won it by 11-08.
Prisons woke up in the second quarter and beat Busia 9-10 to cut the deficit into the half time break with a 20-18 score at Kamwokya.
However in the third quarter, Nyongesa Imelda, Prison’s tactician introduced Christine Namuyomba Kango, with her height, she started winning all the balls in the scoring zone.
The tactical move paid off most in the third quarter as the 2017 champions won it by 08-15 to gain the lead before sealing it in the last quarter to secure a 47-34 win.
In the other games played on the day, UCU beat Ugx Luweero 62-34 and the win took them to the top of the table with six points from four games played.
Though they lost their second game of the day to Prison, Busia Greater Lions beat Africa Renewal University 42-41 in the fixture that opened match week four.
“It’s the confidence our coach do have in us, is what driving us to win games and to play good game, our coach doesn’t abuse us when we make mistakes, he only correct us,” Busia Greater Lions player Shatra Naluutu told Nnalubaale Sports.
The last fixture of the game week between Makindye Weyonje and UPDF Netball Club was not played due to power shed.
League action returns this Wednesday, on the 19th of October with two fixtures at Weyonje Grounds Kibuli.
