Wakiso Hills earned a hard-fought 1-0 away win over She Maroons to keep their FUFA Women Super League Promotion dream alive.

Flamboyant talent Patricia Nayiga‘s first-half strike was enough to earn her side three points to go second on the table.

“I thank God who gifted us the three points against the best team in the league,” Wakiso Hills Coach Swalleh Kamya stated.

The gaffer also applauded his players for the spirited performance after a setback in their two previous games.

“We dropped points in two games when we drew 1-1 to Gold Star and 2-2 to Bunyaruguru but the girls know what is at stake.”

Already champions, She Maroons rested almost all their key players ahead of their maiden FUFA Women’s Cup Final against Uganda Martyrs this Saturday in Kumi.

Despite finishing on the losing side, the Luzira-based side were still dominant throughout and, they even missed chances in a game played at the Prisons grounds.

In the other game, Tooro Queens defeated Luweero Giant Queens 2-0 thanks to Kabaculezi Mary and Kanyiginya Sharon‘s goals.

The win pushed the Wakiso side down the table standings but their victory saw them reclaim the second spot, a point above Queens with one game to end the season.

The second team on the log will join She Maroons in FUFA Women Super League 2023/24 season.

Saturday 17th June 2023 will be the judgment day as Wakiso will visit stubborn Isra Soccer Academy and Tooro Queens will welcome Goldstar High School.
