The third edition of the PAU Grand Open Pool Championship will cue off tomorrow with cash, points, and trophies up for grabs.

Over 128 men and 32 ladies will be tussling it out in the Grad Open at Cas Bar and Restaurant Kasanga.

Fierce competition for the Men’s category

In the men’s Championship, champion Keneth Odongo starts his title defence against Lira’s Isaac Abonga.

Another top seed, Ibra Sejjemba will start with Eria Kimuli but, he has veteran Alfred Gumikiriza aka Black Sheep in his path.

The two will face if Gumikiriza gets past his opponent too, Steven Ojara from Gulu City.

Sejjemba’s path to the final has another bump in Jonan Turigye aka Joker in the Last 16 if both players make it to the said stage.

The Dark horses of the PAU Open Pool

Chadigar Ceaser is the other notable player in this Championship after landing back from the Chinese Heyball Championship.

Currently, Chadigar is the on-form player in Uganda and gossip has it that he is the player to beat.

This will be Chadigar’s chance to claim his first gold medal in the PAU Pool Open championship.

The Championship has also attracted five Tanzanian players who arrived yesterday led by their seed one Abudalah Hussein.

Mutesi chasing history in the Ladies’ categories

In the Lady’s category, Rashida Mutesi will be out to write history of winning the Championship for the 3rd consecutive year.

The seed one will open her title defence and record hunt against Babra Nebira in the first round.

The other notable fixture in the ladies’ category is Kajubi Jacinta facing Sharon Mirembe.

They have been playing pool for a good number of years and both played for the same team, Uppervolta last year in the Ladies League.

All in all, this year’s event has attracted players from all over Uganda, and neighbouring countries; South Sudan, Tanzania, and Kenya.

It will surely be one of the best championships this year with action starting tomorrow till Sunday.
