Uganda’s Peruth Chemutai has clinched a Silver medal in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Chemutai was in control throughout the race and seemed poised to defend her title but was outpaced by Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi after the final hurdle.
Chemutai would settle for Silver in a National Record time of 8:53.34. It’s the second medal for Uganda at the ongoing games after Joshua Cheptegei won gold in Men’s 10,000m.
It should be remembered that Uganda paint manufacturing giants Kansai Plascon through their “Twaake” (meaning “go and shine”) campaign, gave the Ugandan contingent of 25 athletes a financial boost ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
