The National Track and Field Championship continues to attract massive participation from elite, developing, and refugee athletes across the country.
Ahead of this year’s edition, scheduled for July 27-28, 2026, at UCU Mukono, over 600 athletes have confirmed their participation in the championship.
The athletes have registered from different parts of the country with additional entries coming from the USA, South Sudan, and Rwanda.
The championship will feature competitions in sprints, middle-distance and long-distance track events, as well as field disciplines such as discus, javelin, long jump, triple jump, and shot put.
To spice up the event, a men’s 500-metre walking race demonstration will be staged at the beginning of day two.
Meanwhile, the lunch break will be highlighted by the Athletes’ Representative elections, scheduled to take place from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, before the final round of activities.
The championship will climax on Sunday with the men’s 4x400m relay final at 4:00 pm.
