Rwanda U-18 basketball team coach Yves Murenzi has noted he’s fully aware of the threat posed by Uganda’s Junior Silverbacks ahead of their second meeting in less than a week.
The visitors were 59-38 victors in the first game on Monday at the Indoor Arena, Lugogo and Uganda will be in to revenge.
Even then, Murenzi is fully aware of this fact but also, not getting carried away by the Monday win.
“The way we beat them, that’s the same way they can beat us, we need to come with more focus and much energy because Ugandans can fight, we need to be ready and don’t rush on offense,” Murenzi noted.
Rwanda is yet to lose a single game as they also managed to beat Tanzania 73-57 on Wednesday at Lugogo. However, the coach claims it is far from being perfect.
“The tournament has not been easy for us as it may seem, every team is tough and ready to compete. Tanzania pushed us and it was not easy for us to score but I thank our players for listening to the instructions we gave.”
Rwanda will once again be the favorites against Uganda due to their advantage in size and confidence levels.
Uganda have won just once and a Thursday loss would dent any of their remaining chances of making it to Madagascar for the FIBA U18 Afrobasket finals.
