The Champions Sprint 2024 | Driver Profile

Driver: Susan Muwonge
Nickname: Super Lady
Car: Subaru Impreza N12B
Codriver: Fred Wampamba

Susan Muwonge, a woman and a half, is a force of nature in the world of rally racing. By day, she’s a teacher, all calm and collected, moulding young minds, but when the engine roars to life, watch out! It’s like she’s transformed into a rally superhero and we’re not talking about the kind that saves the day by catching bad guys, no. She saves the day by absolutely obliterating anyone foolish enough to race against her. It’s no surprise then that her nickname is Super Lady.

Plascon

Two-time Uganda National Rally Champion in 2011 and 2018, Susan Muwonge made history by becoming the first woman in Africa to claim that title. Yes, you read that right first woman in Africa to outpace the men in a sport they thought was theirs to dominate. And she did it twice. She isn’t just fast; she’s a game-changer.

Though she has been largely out of the spotlight since 2019, only coming out for select sprint events, make no mistake when Susan shows up, she shows out. Her Subaru Impreza N12B, affectionately nicknamed Kacunwa (after the bright green colours that blaze across its body), is as fierce as its driver. This car listens to her every command, and together, they become an unstoppable force.
At the Champions Sprint 2024, Susan’s mission is as clear as her green car’s colour: to leave every competitor eating her dust.

Men, beware. If you’re not careful, you might just find yourself trying to outrun not only a Subaru but a woman who has no intention of letting anyone forget she owns the track. She’s not here for a “great job, you participated” sticker. She’s here for the win and to show every man on that track why Susan Muwonge is a household name in the world of rally racing.

So just know on 26th December, the atmosphere is going to be electric. The air will be thick with adrenaline, the smell of avgas, and the faint sound of men whispering, “Did she just… did she just lap me?”

And let’s be real for a second: if you happen to be racing against her, and you look in your rearview mirror, just know that’s not an optical illusion. She’s real. And she’s coming for you. Your car may be fast, but can it handle the wrath of a teacher who’s ready to give a lesson in speed?

So, who’s brave enough to be her next target? The question isn’t if she’ll win. It’s: Are you daring enough to try and stop her?
