The FMU Presidential Debate under the theme ‘On The Fast Track’ will see key faces discussing Uganda’s motorsport future.

This will have stakeholders come together to witness firsthand the articulation of plans, the addressing of pressing issues, and the sharing of visions for the future of the sport.

Who are the candidates?

Kagimu, the owner of Festino City in Mukono – a place that hosts Motorsport events, is a former FMU president having served in the same position during 2010 to 2014. Currently, he is part of the Senate committee; a commission for the former FMU Presidents.

Lumu still knows the taste of the dust and the heat in the cockpit. The driver also doubles as a rider parent as his children fly on bikes. The daring driver has on numerous occasions shaken the adminstration of FMU with challenges crews face.

Lastly, Akena who is a rider, rider parent and big name in the world of politics. Away from the politics, the current member of Parliament for Lira municipality has served as President of Uganda Motocross Club and a member of the FMU executive committee for the last four years.

Victor Akatwijuka, NBS Sport Brand Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating:

“This is an unprecedented occurrence in Motorsport. We are happy to host the first ever presidential debate in the history of Motorsport.”

“We believe this debate will contribute to the advancement of sporting excellence and fostering a culture of dialogue and debate in sports governance,” he added.

The debate will be hosted by celebrated sports journalist Andrew Kabuura.
