Uganda has turned its focus to the 2026 ITTF East African Regional Table Tennis Championships after naming a lean, competitive squad following recent trials in Kampala.
The regional event will run from May 20th to 23rd in Port Sudan, Sudan, offering Uganda an early test ahead of the African Senior Championships in Morocco later this year.
Selection followed four days of trials held at the National Training Center at Kololo Senior Secondary School on April 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th. A total of 27 players 15 men and 12 women competed for places on the national team.
Only six made the cut. Joseph Sebatindira, Joshua Magaya and Enock Balyewunya earned spots on the men’s team after steady performances across the trials.
Jemimah Nakawala, Parvin Judith Nangonzi and Patience Anyango secured the women’s slots with composed displays.
Uganda Table Tennis Association president Cyrus Mark Muwanga congratulated the players and urged them to represent the country with pride and discipline.
Uganda will look to compete strongly and build momentum ahead of the continental championships in October.
