On Saturday, April 18, the Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile Memorial Squash Tournament was held successfully, with over 80 participants taking part in the third edition.

The tournament was organized by Kampala Club Limited and funded by Bank of Uganda in remembrance of former Governor who passed on in 2022 while a member of Kampala Club.

In the 2026 edition, Uganda’s top seed Paul Kasirye Kadoma asserted that he remains the only player to ever win the main event since its inception in 2023.

Paul Kasirye Kadoma handed his trophy.

This was accomplished with a phonetic 3-0 win over emerging star Ivan Wasswa in a final played at Kampala Club on Saturday evening.

After the triumph, he noted, “I feel blessed to have won this tournament for the third time. I am delighted that the Bank of Uganda has come up with this initiative. I appreciate my fellow players for the great challenge, especially Ivan Wasswa in the final; he is a very good player,” Kadoma noted.

Wasswa promised to work harder as he looks to improve his game, “I am not giving up, though it is challenging being a Medical doctor and continuing with your playing career, but I will remain committed to seeing that I start winning some tournaments. Squash is a good game that I can recommend to many young ones to join, which is why I have to keep pushing myself.”

For the main event, the cash prize was given out, starting with quarterfinalists. Michael Reymond Kawooya, Mark Musinguzi, Joel Kasibante, and Cedric Sserwada were the players to stop at that stage.

The other event was the Over 50s, won by former Attorney General William Byaruhanga, while the juniors also indicated a bright future for the sport, as the two categories were the only ones not to give cash prizes to the winners.
