Isa Bbale Sseremba has been elected president of the Uganda Squash Rackets Association (USRA), taking full control of the body after months in acting capacity and promising a stronger push to spread squash across the country.
The election took place during a calm extra ordinary assembly at Rock Classic Hotel in Tororo Municipality, where more than 250 delegates attended a constitutionally guided meeting supervised by Milton Chebet, the Assistant General Secretary at the National Council of Sports.

Bbale, formerly USRA vice president, was elected unopposed for a two-year term running from 2026 to 2028. He had been acting president since December 2025 after the resignation of John Bosco Tamwesigire Ahimbisibwe.
His confirmation was seen as a smooth transition, rewarding stability during a leadership gap.
In his first address as president, Bbale called for unity and teamwork, stressing the need to take squash beyond its traditional bases.
โI want to thank you all for coming and for the trust you have given me. Let us work as a team. Working in isolation cannot help us anymore as we aim to spread the sport upcountry,โ Bbale said.
The elections were held in line with the associationโs constitution and the National Sports Act 2023, reaffirming USRAโs governance structure under national sports regulations.
USRA remains one of the 52 sports bodies under the joint oversight of the Uganda Olympic Committeeand the National Council of Sports.
The new executive team was also confirmed. Edward Mubiru is the new vice-president, while Shifa Nantabi retained her position as General Secretary. Michael Acon continues as Treasurer.
The executive committee includes Lynette Kabahenda, Aminah Nakawooya, Vicent Kibira, Ismail Bwanika, and Herbert Kafrika.
