Calling a provisional squad has become standard practice under Head Coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes, and once again the Teen Cranes coach has named a large group ahead of a crucial FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Kenya.

Team Head Coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes.

Botes on Thursday unveiled Uganda’s provisional Under-17 women’s squad for the second round qualifier, keeping faith in most of the players who guided the Teen Cranes to a dominant 6-1 aggregate victory over Zimbabwe in the opening round.

Now attention turns to Kenya in a decisive East African showdown.

Uganda will host the first leg on May 22 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, before travelling to Nairobi for the return leg at Nyayo National Stadium on May 30.

The squad reflects continuity and competition, with players drawn from schools, academies and clubs across the country.

Among the forwards named are Shadia Nabirye of Kawempe Muslims Ladies, Susan Nabyonga from SIA International Women Football Club, Terry Mora Oseko of Nkoma Secondary School and Monica Buteme from Bugisu High School.

The Teen Cranes begin residential training camp today, Thursday, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru as preparations for the Kenya tie gather momentum.
