- Uganda-W 91/5 in 20 overs (Rita Musamali 38, Esther Illuko 22)
- Nepal-W 51/10 (Kabita Joshi 12, Indu Barma 11)
- Uganda won by 40 runs
Uganda Women (Uganda-W) delivered a dominant performance against Nepal Women (Nepal-W), securing a 40-run victory in an intense T20 match Women’s Day Cup game on Thursday afternoon.
After winning the toss, Uganda-W opted to bat first and managed to post a competitive total of 91 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Their disciplined bowling then dismantled Nepal’s batting lineup, restricting them to just 51 runs in 17.1 overs.
Uganda’s innings had a shaky start as they lost both openers, Janet Mbabazi and Proscovia Alako, for ducks within the first two overs.

However, Esther Iloku (22 off 25) and Rita Musamali (38 off 48) steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. Their efforts helped Uganda recover from the early setbacks and build a respectable total. Late contributions from Stephanie Nampiina (13) and Malisa Ariokot (7) ensured Uganda reached 91/5.
Nepal’s bowlers put up a commendable effort, with Riya Sharma (2/16) leading the attack, while Rubina Chhetry, Puja Mahato, and Ishwori Bist each claimed a wicket. Their disciplined bowling kept Uganda from accelerating in the final overs.

Chasing 92 for victory, Nepal-W’s innings never found momentum. Their troubles began immediately when Samjhana Kumari Khadka fell for a golden duck on the first ball.
Although captain Indu Barma (11 off 12) and Puja Mahato (7 off 18) tried to stabilize the innings, Uganda’s bowlers proved too strong.
Uganda’s bowling attack, led by Mutoni Irene (3/10) and Immaculate Nakisuuyi (3/10), ripped through Nepal’s lineup.
The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals, with five batters failing to score. A late attempt from Kabita Joshi (12 off 27) wasn’t enough to rescue Nepal from a collapse, as they were bowled out for just 51 runs in 17.1 overs.
Key moments in the game
- Uganda’s Resilience: Despite a rocky start, Uganda-W capitalized on their middle-order stability to post a defendable total.
- Bowling Brilliance: Uganda’s bowlers maintained tight control, with Mutoni Irene and Immaculate Nakisuuyi delivering match-winning spells.
- Nepal’s Batting Woes: Nepal’s batters struggled against Uganda’s disciplined bowling, leading to a disappointing collapse.
This result lifts Uganda’s run rate on the standings and is more of a revenge to Nepal who beat the host in the first round.
