18 Ugandan umpires are in class at Kamwokya Community Sports Ground to pursue an Africa Level C umpiring course.

The course, which is the first of its kind in Uganda, is being facilitated by Emarencia Julieta Esterhuizen from Namibia.

The aim of the course is to prepare umpires with the knowledge of rules and umpires competencies plus protocols to umpire at both junior/youth and adult club level.

The course will culminate in an examination, and successful participants will be awarded the Africa Level C Umpiring Certificate.

The East Africa Championship is scheduled to take place in Uganda on May 8, 2022.

The championship will be a great opportunity for the newly-trained umpires to put their skills to the test.

  • Brend Allo Dradria

  • Jonnah Gift Mwesigwa
