The Uganda Bombers, the national boxing team, will be in huge anticipation ahead of the weigh-in at the Elite Men and Women’s Boxing Championships in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The weigh-in, which will be held on Thursday at Hotel la Falaise, will determine whether the boxers will be able to compete in their respective weight classes.
If a boxer weighs less or more than the stipulated weight category, their opponent will be given an automatic bye to the next round.
This is what happened to Ugandan female boxer Teddy Nakimuli at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, where she won bronze without throwing a punch because her opponents weighed more than the weight category.
The Ugandan boxers will learn their preliminary round opponents at a dinner set for later on Wednesday.
