Uganda Sports Press Association on Monday voted the best sports personalities of 2021.

This was during the association’s monthly assembly held at Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo.

The norm of recognising the outstanding sports men and women witnessed hot debates.

The most deliberated upon discipline boxing. Male Shadir Musa Bwogi edge female boxer Catherine Nanziri by a single vote in a selection that had journalists weigh in heavily on the duo’s achievements.

The winners will receive their accolades at a dinner to be held in October this year.

With the title sponsor being Nile Special, a beer brand, recipients below 18 years will receive their accolades at the Minors Award Gala shall be held before the main Gala.

“It was a tough year for sports but the country registered a number of successful stories who had faces behind them,” USPA President Patrick Kanyomozi told Nnalubaale Sports adding.

“The date will be communicated but the month is October. Due to few sports activities, some disciplines’ winners are pending but, we will give a verdict soon.”

A national lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic forced the stoppage of many sports activities in 2021.
