Uganda Martyrs High School will not take part in this year’s Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association games.

This website has learned that the heartbreaking decision has been made by the school’s headmaster Leonard Nsubuga.

On Friday 5th May 2023, Nsubuga decided to withdraw the girl’s team from the tournament to avoid wastage of money and time.

The headmaster did not want to risk taking the team into the tournament only for the USSSA committee kick them out as was the case last year.

USSSA disqualified them claiming that they had fielded an ineligible player. However, up to date, a report it is yet to kiss the sun.

Defender Sharon Nanyonjo was the player in question for not having an O’Level pass slip. Martyrs produced it but it was after the decision was made.

Uganda Martyrs last month defeated Kawempe Muslim 1-0 in the finals of Kampala region qualifiers.

The girls’ team was to travel to Mbarara on Saturday 6th May 2023 but the long trip is now off and players are back home for holidays.

It’s not the first time they have opted out of this tournament after making the same decision back in 2018.

This year’s USSSA girl’s football is being hosted by Ntale School in Mbarara and will climax on 15th May 2023.
