KCCA FC striker Simon Tshisungu Kankonde was involved in extremely ugly actions in his side’s 1-0 defeat to rivals Vipers SC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.
He was part of the melee where he and Vipers goalkeeping coach Ibrahim Mugisha grabbed eachother with the game ongoing, at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The ugliest of scenes then came at full-time as Kankonde punched referee, Mashood Ssali as he contested his officiation.
“The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (FCDP) has opened disciplinary proceedings against Kankonde Tshisungu regarding incidents in the context of violent conduct that happened on Friday 5th May 2023 as his club KCCA FC played Vipers SC at St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium,” said a FUFA statement.
“The proceedings were opened drawing attention to Article 31 of the FUFA Competition rules and regulations.”
“Kankonde is required to submit a written response and send it to FUFA via email by Monday 8th May 2023 5:00 pm,” the statement summed.
Initially, KCCA head coach Jackson Mayanja got charged for claiming Ssali was the sole reason KCCA succumbed to defeat at Kitende.
KCCA is in the hunt for the Uganda Premier League title as they occupy third with 45 points, same as second-placed Vipers, who have a game in hand.
The Kasasiro boys are one point adrift of leaders SC Villa, who have played a game more.
