In the run to Vipers SC‘s 1-0 victory over KCCA FC on Friday, the venoms’ goalkeeping coach, Ibrahim Mugisha was involved in a physical altercation that could attract further action from FUFA.
Mugisha got entangled with KCCA players, including Simon Tshisungu Kankonde in the first half, which nearly resulted in a fist fight.
Despite receiving matching orders from center referee Mashood Ssali, the experienced coach has received a summon from the FUFA disciplinary custodians, which could imply further action.
“The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (FCDP) has opened disciplinary proceedings against Vipers SC Goalkeeping Coach Ibrahim Mugisha regarding incidents in the context of violent conduct that happened on Friday 5th May 2023 as his club hosted KCCA FC at St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium,” a FUFA statement partly reads.
“The proceedings were opened drawing attention to Article 31 of the FUFA Competition rules and regulations.”
“Mugisha is required to submit a written response to FUFA via email by Monday 8th May 2023 5:00 pm.”
At the moment, Vipers wouldn’t want any distractions, as they’re chasing to defend the league title.
They sit second with 45 points, one adrift of leaders SC Villa, who have played two games more.
They are level on points with KCCA but have a better goal difference.
Their latest test will have them visit Soltilo Bright Stars FC in Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Tuesday.
