  • Morocco 4-2 Haiti
  • Brazil 3-0 Scotland

Morocco fought back twice to beat a spirited Haiti side 4-2 and secure a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32, but the Atlas Lions had to settle for second place in Group C behind Brazil on goal difference.

Needing a win to stay in contention for top spot, Morocco were given an early scare when Haiti took a shock lead in the 10th minute through an own goal by goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

Captain Achraf Hakimi restored parity six minutes before halftime, only for Wilson Isidor to hand Haiti the lead again with a stunning long-range strike. Morocco responded immediately as Ismael Saibari scored in stoppage time to leave the teams level at 2-2 at the break.

With qualification and top spot still on the line, Morocco stepped up after halftime. Coach Mohamed Ouahbi’s substitutions proved decisive as Soufiane Rahimi came off the bench to put the Atlas Lions ahead in the 78th minute before fellow substitute Gessime Yassine sealed the victory a minute from time.

The win saw Morocco finish level on seven points with Brazil, but the South Americans’ comfortable 3-0 victory over Scotland gave them a superior goal difference and top place in the group.

Morocco now advance as runners-up and will face the winners of Group F in the Round of 32, while Haiti bowed out without a point.
