- USA 4-1Paraguay
The United States made a flying start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, thrashing Paraguay 4-1 in a Group D clash at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles, on Saturday morning.
Folarin Balogun led the charge with two goals as the hosts overwhelmed the South Americans in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
Paraguay’s problems were compounded by an own goal from Damian Bobadilla before Giovanno Reyna added a late fourth to complete a dominant American display.
The visitors managed a consolation through Brazilian-born Mauricio Magalhaes Prado in the 71st minute, but by then the contest was already beyond them.
The convincing victory gives the USA an early advantage in Group D ahead of the other fixture between Turkey and Australia, which will be played later on Saturday at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
Elsewhere, Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina shared the points in a 1-1 draw in Group A at Toronto Stadium.
Bosnia took the lead through Lukic in the 21st minute and looked set for victory before Cyle Larin struck in the 78th minute to earn the hosts a valuable point.
Attention now shifts to one of the tournament’s most anticipated fixtures as five-time champions Brazil begin their campaign against Morocco at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford on Sunday morning.
All remaining 100 matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on DStv across four dedicated FIFA World Cup channels. Everything Can Wait and fans can follow every moment of football’s biggest event from kickoff to the final whistle.
