Kigando Kobs will host Kajjere United on Sunday, June 14, at Trinity Primary School in Kyankwanzi District as both sides begin their battle for promotion to the Provincial League.
The two-legged playoff pits together champions from neighboring districts, with Kigando Kobs having won the Kyankwanzi District Fifth Division League, while Kajjere United emerged champions of the same tier in Kiboga District.
The winner over the two legs will secure promotion to the Wamala Group, the fourth tier of Ugandan men’s football, which comes after the Uganda Premier League, the FUFA Big League, and the Regional League.
Kigando Kobs will be aiming to make history by becoming the first club from their district to reach the fourth division. The return leg is scheduled to be played in Kiboga next weekend, where the final outcome of the tie will be decided.
Meanwhile, Kajjere United will be seeking to join fellow Kiboga-based sides Bamusuuta FC and Kiboga United at the Provincial League level.
Ahead of the playoff showdown, Kigando Kobs enjoyed an impressive league campaign. They topped the seven-team league after winning six matches and drawing two, scoring 16 goals and conceding just five in 14 games.
Kajjere United also had a strong season, collecting 24 points from 13 matches. They registered seven wins and three draws, while scoring 22 goals and conceding 14.
With promotion at stake, both sides will be eager to gain an advantage in the first leg before heading into the decisive return fixture in Kiboga.
