Commonwealth Games: She Cranes battered by dominant England

Uganda’s Netball team, the She Cranes were second-best against an absolutely dominant England, who beat them 56-35 at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

In the Tuesday game, the hosts led from start to finish, winning all quarters and limiting the Cranes to single-digit goals for each of the first three quarters.

In the first, the She Cranes fell 13-7, and were 10 goals behind by halftime as the hosts led 25-15. As the game went by, the gap got bigger before England eventually won by a 21 goals difference.

Shadia Nassanga led the way for Uganda with nine goals, followed by Peace Proscovia with eight, whilst, Mary Nuba Cholhok scored just six.

The She Cranes now lie third in Group B behind New Zealand and England, who occupy the first and second spots respectively.

Uganda can progress to the next round with a win over Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
