The Cricket Cranes began their tour of India on a bad note after losing twice to National CC on Friday in their opening two games.

The two faced off in two T20 Over games! Uganda came out on the losing side in both occasions.

Jackson Ogwang‘s team first lost by 2 wickets in the opening game. Ronald Lutaya 56 and Kenneth Waiswa 26 had guided Uganda to a decent score of 166/6.

Waiswa had also been unplayable with the ball, with 3/5 to his name, but their efforts were just not enough to overcome the hosts who were led by Sumit Dhekale (68*).

In the second game, National CC were even more deadly. Collectively, they beat Uganda by 7 wickets. Roger Mukasa (64) and Lutaya (37) were decent for the visitors, but Ayush Vartak 44, Umesh Gurjah 47, Rooneet Thakur 44* and Rahul Kodavoor 36* ensured their team powered to an easy chase which was completed in the 18.1 Overs.

Lutaya and Waiswa’s consistency were the easing aspects in both games for Ugandans, but on a personnel level, Innocent Mwebaze earned his national team debut. Mwebaze alongside David Wabwire opened the bowling for Uganda in the second game.

That was owing to the fact that Juma Miyaji and Cosmas Kyewuta, the two opening bowlers for the Cricket Cranes continue to be treated with caution as they fully recover from their respective injuries.

The Cricket Cranes return to action on Saturday against the Omtex ICWC Select side at the same ground.
