FWSL: Weekend Roundup

The FUFA Women Super League (FWSL) is five games into the 2022/23 campaign and Kampala Queens FC are still at the apex with a perfect 15 points.

The moneybags, through Margaret Kunihira‘s first-half strike edged UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 on Saturday to maintain their perfect start.

UCU suffered their first season loss; having picked three wins and a draw in the previous four games, and now sit second with 10 points.

In the other encounter, champions She Corporate needed a 2-0 victory against Olila High School Women Football Club in Soroti on Sunday to end their winless streak.

Joanitah Ainembabazi opened the scoring for the Nakawa-based side before Phionah Nabbumba added her first of the campaign to seal the victory.

She Corporate now lie seventh on the log with five points behind Olila (6th) who have accumulated one more point.

Meanwhile, Hadijah Nandago‘s hattrick condemned Rines SS WFC to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Kawempe Muslim Ladies on Sunday.

Rines’ Peace Aloyo scored in her own goal while Aminah Nababi provided their consolation.

Elsewhere, Brenda Munyana and Kevin Nakachwa scored to guide Uganda Martyrs Lubaga to a 2-0 win past Makerere University WFC on Saturday.

On the other hand, Asubo Gafford Ladies continued their abysmal run as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Lady Doves FC, courtesy of Norah Alupo, Lydia Nyandera and Olivia Babirye.
