The 2022/23 FUFA Women Super League winners Kampala Queens FC will play international friendlies ahead of CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers.
The development was confirmed by the club’s head of communication Mr Wasswa Hassan on FUFA Radio in the Women In Sport show hosted by Aminah Namutebi.
“The team will play international friendly games before CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in the line of preparations.” Wasswa Hassan started.
“Its confirmed we will travel soon and play different international friendly games then resume for the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers to start our dream of winning the title and qualify for the final tournament in Ivory coast.” He added
“Soon we will notify the public when and which team to play against.” Wasswa Hassan concluded.
The Queens of Soccer have already played and won three friendly games.
They defeated St Noa Girls Zaana 3-1 in the first friendly game before edging Trinity 2-1 in the second and first International friendly game.
On Saturday 8th July, 2023, Kampala Queens vanished Jinja select 12-2 in their third friendly game.
The team is currently at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru under the management of assistant coach Tonny Mawejje.
Kampala Queens was drawn in group A alongside Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (C.B.E), FC F.A.D (Djibouti), Buja Queens (Burundi), and Yei Joint Stars of South Sudan.
The CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal qualifiers will start on group games will be played between August 12 and 30, 2023, and all group A games will be at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
