Having clinched the National Volleyball Championship, Kampala City Council Authority Ladies Volleyball Club got rewarded with a lump sum cash prize.
KCCA, while at a celebratory luncheon with Capital City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago on Thursday, got a UGX 10m cash reward, as a token of appreciation.
Lukwago asserted KCCA‘s continued dedication to supporting sport in his congratulatory message to the team.
“This is just a small token to boost your morale,” a visibly joyous Lukwago told the team.
“We are committed to supporting you. Trophies or no trophies, we shall be supporting you,” he noted before cautioning against complacency.
“That doesn’t mean you should relax. We are always top, always up there,” he added.
The event started with the team having a trophy parade from Omondi Stadium, Lugogo to the City Hall.
KCCA beat Sport-S in the finals to end a 17-year trophy drought. They also qualified for the Africa Club Championship in the process.
