Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola has had his brilliant maiden season with Richards Bay rewarded with a Goalkeeper of Season nomination.
He will hope to fend off competition from Mamelodi Sundowns‘ Ronwen Williams and Supersport United’s Ricardo Goss.
Jamal has managed 11 clean sheets in 26 games allowing in only 20 goals and picked up a Player of the Month in each of September and October.
His excellent early season form had him return to the national team, featuring for the Cranes in the AFCON Qualifiers for the first time.
Salim Jamal picked up six clean sheets at home and five away and was rewarded with the Cranes’ goalkeeping duties in Tanzania’s doubleheader.
However, Williams is expected to take the gong as he made 18 clean sheets. The award is known to head to goalkeepers who have made the most shutouts.
