Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named a 28-player squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Tunisia and Libya, as well as two international friendlies against DR Congo.
Uganda will face Tunisia away on 24th September 2026 before hosting Libya on 29th September. The Cranes will then play DR Congo in two international friendlies on 2nd and 5th October to conclude the 16-day FIFA international window running from 21st September to 6th October.
The Belgian tactician stated that he is pleased with the current form, fitness, and commitment of the summoned players and believes they have what it takes to deliver strong results for Uganda.
Put also clarified why several regulars will not be involved in this window, confirming that Jordan Obita and Elio Capradossi are sidelined with injuries and wishing them a speedy recovery.
Other notable absentees include team captain Khalid Aucho, Salim Jamal Magoola, Uche Ikpeazu, John Paul Dembe, Bobosi Byaruhanga, and Jude Ssemugabi.
According to Put, some of the omitted players are currently without clubs or have recently completed transfers without sufficient playing time, while others have just returned from long-term injuries and lack match fitness.
