Uganda Volleyball Cranes made it two wins from two matches at the CAVB Zone V Nations Championship Qualifiers after beating South Sudan 3-0 at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday.

Having opened their campaign with a convincing victory over Burundi, Uganda produced another strong display to overcome a spirited South Sudan side.

The hosts took advantage of South Sudan’s poor reception, with Daudi Okello leading a powerful attack that kept the visitors under pressure throughout the match. Roared on by the home crowd, Uganda controlled most of the contest despite facing resistance from a determined South Sudan team.

South Sudan missed the presence of injured opposite hitter Thon Maker Madol, who watched from the bench as part of the technical team.

Although Uganda won in straight sets, the performance exposed areas that need improvement. The Volleyball Cranes struggled to close out the second and third sets, committing several unforced errors and allowing South Sudan back into rallies they appeared to have under control.

The result keeps Uganda’s unbeaten start intact ahead of Wednesday’s much-anticipated clash against Kenya. The encounter, popularly known as the Migingo Derby, is expected to be Uganda’s toughest test of the tournament so far.
