Promotion hopefuls Kitara FC and Mbarara City FC slumbered at work as they both failed to win their respective FUFA Big League games yesterday.

Table-toppers Kitara were held to an entertaining two-all draw away from home by Ndejje University FC at the Arena of Visions.

Brian Obedi scored late for Ndejje after Edson Agondeze looked to have grabbed all points for Kitara. Moses Sseruyidde netted the latter’s other goal while Norman Ndyamuhaki had Ndejje’s first.

Kitara maintained the top spot on 47 points, three ahead of joint runners-up NEC FC and Mbarara.

Mbarara suffered an agonizing 2-0 defeat to lowly side Kyetume FC at the Saza Grounds, Nakisunga to put their chances of topping the log in jeopardy.

NEC, meanwhile capitalized on the slip ups by the fellow giants as they comfortably beat Kaaro Karungi FC 3-1 at the Coffee Grounds, Bugolobi.

Tonny Kiberu, Julius Walugembe, and another from substitute and veteran Geoffrey Sserunkuma handed the hosts the valuable points. Skipper Ian Amanya grabbed the guests’ consolation.

On the other hand, Police FC and Lugazi were the day’s biggest winners, with the latter trumping Northern Gateway SC 7-1.

7-star Lugazi FC

Police thrashed Luweero United FC 5-2 at Kavumba to move fourth with 43 points and enlightened their promotion chances.
