After a long wait for the zone championship, which was first hosted in Kyankwanzi District before being disrupted and reshuffled in Nakasongola, the zone has finally decided its best teams in U17 Netball, U20 Boys, and Girls Football.
Before the disruption, Bukomero-based school Kyantaba SS had already won the U17 Netball final, beating St Kizito 21-14 on April 2, but they had to wait for the awarding ceremony, which happened on April 15, where Kyantaba SS, Standard High School Ndejje, and Amazing Grace were crowned Champions at St Mary’s ground in Nakasongola.
As a result of hooliganism when people attempted to oppose the decisions of throwing host Butemba College out of competitions in the boardroom claiming impersonation and non-bonafide usage as per the rules of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association.
Later, the awaited final day happened to see Standard High School Ndejje winning the U20 Boys Football champions qualifiers at the Zone level as they qualified for the USSA U20 Boys Football National Championship along with Ssaku SS, whom they beat in the final 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 normal play.
Muzza High School will join as the third team to represent the Zone at the USSSA U20 Boys Football National Championship at Lira Town College from May 10th to 20th.
In Girls Football, Amazing Grace from Luweero won the Zone Championship to qualify for the USSSA National Ball Games 1. At Seroma Christian High School, they will be along with Katikamu SDA from Nakaseke and Lutamaguzi Memorial High School from Kyankwanzi.
