- Olila HS 62/8 in 20 Overs
- Light SS 65/5 in 18.2 Overs
Light SS won by 5 wickets
Light Secondary School are champions once again after defeating defending champions Olila High School by five wickets in the final of the Girls Schools Cricket Week at Gulu High School Cricket Ground.
It is a familiar script. Just like the 2024 final, Light SS once again proved stronger than Olila, sealing their second title in style and finishing the tournament unbeaten.
Olila, who won the toss and chose to bat, never got going. Their innings collapsed to 62 for 8 in 20 overs. Captain Malisa Ariokot top scored with 22, while Joan Ilora added 11 as wickets kept tumbling.
Light SS controlled the game with the ball. Ritah Alio and Teddy Anyait took three wickets each, while Sarah Tino and Joyce Mary Arugo added one apiece to keep Olila firmly in check.
The chase was steady but not flawless. Light SS reached 63 for 5 in 18.2 overs, with Susan Akidi scoring 14 and Ruth Kulume holding firm with an unbeaten 15. Akello Ruth then guided them home.
Olila had a standout moment through Devine Gabriella Nyamer, who impressed with 1 for 7 in four overs and was named Player of the Match, but it was not enough to stop Light SS from lifting the trophy.
The win confirmed a perfect campaign for Light SS unbeaten from start to finish and deserved champions once again.
In the ninth place playoff, Soroti Secondary School beat St. James Secondary School by six wickets.
St. James struggled to 48 for 9, with Soroti’s Judith Iroo taking three wickets and Vivian Alibo and Sharon Ainyo adding two each. Soroti chased the target in 17 overs, led by Mary Nabuma.
Individual honours went to Malisa Ariokot, who was named Best Batter after scoring 279 runs.
Ritah Alio took Best Bowler with 20 wickets, while Sonia Nampeera of St John’s SS Mukono was named Most Valuable Player after a brilliant all-round tournament.
