NEC FC bounced back to their absolute best with a dominant 5-1 victory over Soroti City FC in the FUFA Big League on Wednesday.
The resultĀ came off the back of two recent defeats; 1-0 to Kitara FC and 2-0 to Luweero United.
Skipper Marvin Kavuma‘s hattrick at Coffee Grounds in Bugolobi ensured the Diehards returned into title contention.
They now have 40 points, three adrift of leaders Kitara FC who have played a game less.
Substitutes Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Sulaiman Ssesazi added the other two goals, whilst Simon Peter Odeke netted for the guests.
Kavuma opening the scoring in the eighth minute but Odeke found the leveller at the stroke of halftime.
However, moments after the restart, Ssesazi added the hosts’ second of the afternoon, before Sserunkuma netted from the spot.
In the closing minutes, Kavuma completed both his brace and hattrick, taking his season’s tally to 13.
With the result NEC FC moved up to third on the log while Soroti remain stuck in the relegation zone in 13th position.
