National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) FC earned a first-ever promotion to the Startimes Uganda Premier League after just one season in the FUFA Big League.

With just victory needed to make history in their Thursday game against Kataka FC away at the Mbale Municipal Stadium, NEC didn’t make any mistakes as they comfortably won 4-1.

The Bugolobi-based outfit were inspired by a brace from Julius Walugembe and one goal each from Tonny Kiberu and Marvin Kavuma.

The result took their point tally to 57, three ahead of fourth-placed Police FC, who were their main competitors.

Police choked on the pressure as they drew one-all with Jinja North United at Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Thursday.

NEC joined Kitara FC and Mbarara City FC, who finished first and second, with 61 and 60 points, respectively.

Kitara beat Kaaro Karungi FC 1-0, while Mbarara City dispatched off Northern Gateway SC 3-0 to round off the campaign.
