Defending Champions Jinja SS had a perfect start to their Boys Schools Cricket week title defense, winning their opening two Group A games against St Joseph’s College Layibi and Teso College Aloet.

The champions showed their class against the opposition they were expected to beat to ensure they sent a statement to the rest of the competition. St John’s SS Mukono, their closet competition in Group A, also started with a good result against Ntare as they sought a Super Six place as the second-best team.

Nyakasura School finalists for the last two years also defeated a strong Shree Sahajanand team by seven wickets to take charge of Group B.

The result of the day came from Group B, Gulu High School defeated Kings College Budo by 60 runs, the northern Uganda school showing no respect for one of the schools that was part of the 1st ever school cricket week championship in Uganda.

A performance that will inspire a whole region as the game continues to take root in the region. Masaka SS failed to get past Delhi Public School in a game they were expected to win, that loss makes their work hard if they are to qualify for the Super Six.

Busoga College Mwiri struggled against Soroti SS, the record winners labored to a 5-wicket win chasing a small total. Aga Khan picked up two wins while Ndejje SS got off to a winning start against St James SS.
