Saturday 2023 Safari Rally action had roads further north around Lake Elmenteita host a 134.90km thriller.

It opened an extended Soysambu stage followed by Elmenteita’s oft-used tracks in the Delamere Estate and Sleeping Warrior.

Well, the resting warrior look-alike is a shadow of a hill that resembles a Masai warrior lying down.

Back to the iconic Soysambu stage, It is classic with a little bit of everything that made this event so legendary and was extended by 9km to almost 30km.

A couple of river crossings near the finish with steep entries and exits, and mud trucks on standby to pull anyone clear who gets stuck.

The big straights, flowing corners, rocky climbs, rough compressions, and hard lava roads. What’s not to like?

And all the said thrill, with a buzzing crowd courtesy of Ugandan fans who turned the viewing points into a fan fest.

With loud music, standing on top of cars and hills waving Ugandan flags high, they showed their colours with utmost passion.

They shined brightest (read Twaake) and clouded Kenyan fans in their backyard despite being outnumbered.
